Sofia became a heroin addict after seeing her big brother using it, which eventually kicked off a chain of events leading to the death of their parents. Sofia was blamed by Jackson for this, and the two became estranged. Almost a year after their parents' death, overcome with guilt, Sofia overdosed at their family's cabin and died. Jackson found her body a week later and, also overcome with guilt, started using right next to her corpse, mumbling that he was there for her now.
Jackson's hallucination[]
Under the influence of the drug, Jackson hallucinated Sofia, alive and sober, but under the influence of the demon Flauros. She torments him, insisting he face his own hypocrisy and the part he played in her drug addiction, eventually trying to possess him as well. He resists it and banishes Flauros from her, and the two reconcile, fighting for blame. Jackson insists he is at fault, having introduced her to heroin, but assures her that he's here for her now. At the height of reconciliation, Sofia suddenly starts coughing out insects, and dies beside him, crushing him down into depression until he emerges from the effects of the heroin.
