Claire is the re-enactor of Sheriff Stone's daughter who ostensibly married a Native American, soothing the rift between the white settlers and the indigenous people. She appears in "Manifest Destiny".
Claire plays Sheriff Stone's daughter Claire, who fell in love with a native man and came to his defense when her father tried to shoot him, eventually leading to her father permitting the marriage. In actuality, as Claire well knew, this re-enactment was pure fiction. In the real history, the Claire of yore was promised to a townsman, but had premarital relations before her marriage. Hoping to deflect blame, she falsely accused a native of rape. This set in motion events that would lead to the massacre of the local tribe and beyond, including the town preacher who tried to preempt the slaughter, and anyone else who dissented.
Claire found nothing wrong with being the purveyor of lies, because she sought to present a positive American history, one that Americans could be proud of, one they desperately needed. After performing the false re-enactment for The Nostalgists Podcast hosts, she went to Rosalie for an interview, explaining the value of a positive American history. Later, she had another interview over the graves of Claire and Sheriff Stone, lying that Claire's husband does not have a grave because he was respectfully returned to his people. However, mid-interview an altercation between Walks Upon Earth and Chad sees Claire knocked to the ground, twisting her ankle, so Chad has to carry her to the jailhouse for a brace.
At the jailhouse, Claire and Chad suggest that Rosalie and Walks Upon Earth take over for them for the rest of the re-enactment, but Walks Upon Earth becomes agitated after an apparent seizure that he suffered while native garb was put onto him. Irate, he demands that he and Claire be brought to a hospital, so Rosalie and Chad leave to get their phones from the church. While they do, he drags the story of what really happened in Cain's End out of her. They return in panic, having found the body of one of the re-enactors at the church. Chad again half-carries Claire to safety, hiding in a shed, before they make a run for the town's edge.
At the town's edge, Chad and Claire slam into a magical barrier — the original artifacts from the time period are spelled, and may not leave Cain's End. After a conflict between the Sheriff and Walks Upon Earth, and after the latter regains his senses, they're able to learn of this and quickly discard their original attire. Chad then helps carry Claire out of the town, away from the possessed re-enactors trapped within, to safety.
